Bitter Gourd Masala Curry


Ingredients:

Bittergourd (karela) -4
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

for masala:

Groundnuts - 1/4 cup
Red Chillies - 5
Garam masala -1tsp
Coconut -2tsp (optional)

Fry the above without oil and grind to coarse powder and keep it.

Procedure:
  • Stuff the masala powder into the bittergourd.
  • In a pan, heat oil and fry the bittergourd. Add salt.
  • Cover the pan with a lid and water in that. So that the veg will cook with the help of water drops from the lid.
  • In between, keep mixing the curry till its cooked.
  • Serve hot with rice.
Optional method:
  • Cut the bittergourds into round shape.
  • In a pan, heat oil and fry the bittergourd and cook it.
  • Add salt, pinch of turmeric powder.
  • Once they are cooked, add the masala powder and mix them properly.
  • Serve hot with rice.
