Ven Pongal


Ingredients:

Raw rice – 1 cup
Green gram dal – ¼ cup
Pepper – ½ tsp
Cumin seed – ½ tsp
Ginger – a bit
Cashewnut – 5
Ghee – 2- 3 tblsp
Salt – as required

Procedure:

Wash and cook rice and dal together in a cooker. Cook until very soft. Add salt.

Powder pepper and cumin seeds very coarsely. Chop ginger.

Fry cashewnuts in little ghee . When they become golden brown, add powdered pepper, cumin seeds and ginger. Then add to the cooked rice and dal.

Mix well adding little ghee.
